Bill Creevy is a widely exhibited New York based artist with well over a dozen solo shows to his credit.
A native
of New Orleans, Bill Creevy holds an MFA degree from Louisiana State University and a BA degree (History) from the University
of New Orleans.
A student of such celebrated post-war American Realists as Gabriel Laderman and the late Paul Georges, Creevy originally left
Louisiana to accept a Max Beckman Teaching Fellowship at the Brooklyn Museum Art School. He became an active member of the
downtown Realist scene of the late 60's and 70's and began his life long association with First Street Gallery.
Though
he has painted extensively in oils and pastels Creeyv's favorite medium remains pen and ink. Bill Creevy's work has been described
as representational with a touch of the mystic. He has worked in the still life, landscape, and figure idiom.
An acknowledged
expert on oil paint and pastels, Creevy has taught thousands of artists how to find and enhance their own style through his
best selling professional level books on art materials and art technique: "The Pastel Book" and "The Oil Painting Book" (both
published by Wastson&Guptill; over 70,000 copies in print.
Both a writer and and artist, Bill Creevy has also had profiles and reviews appear in Art In America, American Artist, Pastel
Journal, and Artist's Magazine. His many awards and honors include the National Art Master's Award for Pastel Teaching (Sponsored
by American Artist Magazine). Creevy is both a signature member and Master of The Pastel Society of American Creevy is in
Who's Who in American Art. He continues to exhibit in group and juried shows both throughout the nation and abroad. He is
also reprsented by Cole Pratt Galery of New Orleans, Louisiana.
